"EVEN THE MIGHTY OAK WAS ONCE A TINY ACORN"
What once started as an idea over a 'Chai-Samosa' and 'Gupshup' by
a few spirited entrepreneurs has today grown into a group of
significant size within a short span of time.
FIEG members had their first meeting on 19th July 2009 at the
Golden Peacock, Fremont. A group of entrepreneurs from various
facets of the community joined hands together to take a pledge to
move ahead and work diligently for the community.
As per the 2000 census in the Bay Area there 52% Asians and out of
this nearly 25 percent are Indians. Many of the families are highly
educated.
The Bay Area is home to the largest Asian population in the
continental United States. In 2002, the census estimated that
roughly one in five Bay Area adults was of Asian decent.
The Bay Area Asian community (and the Asian community in general)
is known for the diversity of its individuals. Asians come from
distinct national origin groups and have different cultures,
languages and religions. Furthermore, many Asian adults in the Bay
Area were born in the United States but most were not. While the
population of Indian community grew, there was felt a lack of a
cohesive organization that really catered to the needs of the
community.
While we would find Clubs and Groups and Community Centers spring
up in different regions, they all lacked business collaborations.
It is with an intention to do away with the shortcomings of various
groups that we decided to form the FIEG.
